Admission Requirement

The Delta State School of Marine Technology, Burutu, is an institution with multi-campuses at Gbaregolor and Kwale. The institution which is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), invites applications from suitably QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR ADMISSION INTO THE UNDERLISTED National Diploma (ND) for the 2022/2023 Academic Session. All Applicants are required to have Sat for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND)

SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/NBC/NTC ordinary level certificates or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and three (3) subjects relevant to the course obtained at not more than two (2) sittings;

  • For School of Engineering, Departments of: Marine Engineering, Oil and Gas Engineering, Boat and Ship Building Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics EngineeringCivil Engineeringand Computer Engineering; five (5) O'level credit passes in Mathematics; Physics; Chemistry; English Language and one of the following subjects: Technical Drawing, Biology; Agricultural Science; Economics; Additional Mathematics; Statistics; Basic Electricity/Applied Electricity; Auto-Mechanic and Metal Work at not more than two sittings
  • For School of Science and Technology, Departments of: Nautical Science and Seamanship, Science Laboratory Technology, Fisheries and Fisheries Technology, Oceanography, Computer Science; five (5) O'levdl Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics; Chemistry; Physics; and one (1) relevant subjects from the following: Biology/Agricultural Science; Geography; Economics; Basic Electronics; Technical Drawing and Statistics.
  • For the Department of Industrial Safety and Environmental Management Technology, five (5) O'level Credit passes in English Language; Mathematics; Chemistry; Biology/Agricultural Science; and one subject from the following: Technical Drawing; Geography; Economics and Statistics.
  • For the Department of Survey and Geo-informatics, five (5) O'level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics; Physics and two (2) subjects from the following: Technical Drawing; Geography; Basic Surveying; Statistics; Economics; and Biology/Agricultural Science.
  • For the Department of Estate Management, five O'level (5) Credit passes in Mathematics; English Language and three (3) subjects from the following: Physics; Chemistry; Geography; Statistics; Technical Drawing; Basic Surveying; Economics; Biology; Agricultural Science; Art; Woodwork and Metal Work
  • For the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, five (5) O'level Credits passes in English Language; Mathematics and three (3) subjects from the following: Geography; Economics; Statistics; Art; and two science subjects from Chemistry; Physics; Technical Drawing; Biology and Agricultural Science.
  • For School of Maritime Transportation and Business Studies, for the Departments of: Maritime Transportation; Accounting; Business Administration; Marketing and Public Administration; five(5) O’level credits passes including English Language; Mathematics and any other three(3) credits from Geography; Statistics; French; Economics; Commerce; Civic Education; Government; Accounting; Biology and Agricultural Science.
Maritime Transport advertised at the National Diploma as stated above are available for applicants intending to undertake the Higher National Diploma Programmes.

Note: Aptitude test is not necessary for applicants intending to undertake the Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND)
  • Satisfy all the requirements for admission into the ND programmes as stated above.
  • Possess a National Diploma in relevant course(s) from Delta State School of Marine Technology or from a recognized institution with a CGPA of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit).
  • A letter of completion of compulsory industrial training from organizations/firms or evidence of one year work experience
  • In exceptional cases, National Diploma with a Pass (2.00-2.49) in the ND may be accepted. Such candidates would undergo a one year Pre-HND programmes to improve themselves.
  • All candidates for the Higher National Diploma programmes should request the School they attended in respect of National Diploma to forward their transcripts to DESOMATECH under confidential cover. Or through registrar.desomatech@dsmt.edu.ng

Application

Applicants should follow the instructions outlined below:
(i) Log on to www.dsmt.edu.ng and then click on Apply Now before Application Form.
(ii) Fill the form to pay a non-refundable application fee of
ND: N15,000;
HND: N25,000;

All payments are made through the school portal only
(iii) Application form can be purchase from the school website.
(iv) Print two (2) copies of the online acknowledgement form to conclude the registration.
CLOSING DATE: 31st July, 2024.
APTITUDE TEST: Will be communicated to you.
